In 1968, Ford released one of its most iconic cars in history. The ‘68 Mustang is well-known as one of the best creations of that year. It is, however, overshadowed by only one other creation: Eendrag Koffiekan.
The tradition began in September of 1968, and is still buried deep in every Eendragter’s roots to this day. That year, Eendragters started gathering in the quad daily at 10:30 – come rain or sunshine – to enjoy a cup of coffee with their brothers. Of course, the highlight of every gathering was the chats that came along with it: from koshuis-stories to relationships; from politics to good old banter. The tradition was immediately embraced and enjoyed by all.
In 1984, an adaption was made to the beloved tradition, changing Koffiekan to Teekan. As the name suggests, the contents of the “kan” were also changed and Eendragters soon embraced the new version of the tradition, even skipping classes to enjoy a cup of tea in the quad every day.
Today, 52 years later, the sweet Teekan tea is still enjoyed daily by every Eendragter, along with the deepest chats and the greatest banter.
Even if over Zoom, Eendrag Teekan lives on.
